Q: How will using low energy light bulbs help?
A: Low energy light bulbs use a fraction of the electricity of normal incandescent bulbs; a 12w bulb providing the same light as a 60w standard bulb.   If you find them too dull, use a larger bulb rather than the standard 60watt equivalents as you can get 75 and 100 watt equivalent bulbs.  These can be bought very cheaply now and  can pay for themselves in just a few weeks and last much longer than standard bulbs.  If you have racks of spotlights in a room, bear in mind you could be using more electricity than some people are using for their entire house.  If you need to light a large area, note you can get more powerful round florescent lights, not just the old strip lamps.
